Hello! I am planning to visit Europe during the summer (Mid May). I doing some research beforehand and would really appreciate if I can get some advice/suggestions.

There are many things to think about, but the most importantly first I need to set a budget. I am researching about the cost associated with transportation within Europe, food and sightseeing etc etc... I would really appreciate if anyone can give me some advice or share some experience in this regard. I will have few thousand Euros (maybe 1.5~2k) to spend after reaching there.

I didn't finalize anything yet but thinking about visiting central and western Europe. I have lots of friends over there and I can very easily save most of the cost associated with lodging and in some cases transportation.

Thanks in advance :)

Ireland is ridiculously expensive especially in Dublin !! It is worth travelling to Galway on the West coast it is beautiful and lots of cool little Irish pubs rather than a big city that looks the same as all the rest !! Use Eurolines or National Express coaches they are pretty cheap :) x

If you have 2000 Euro's for 3 weeks for example and are staying in budget accommodation, you will have plenty of money. You should have enough for a restaurant meal and a few drinks as well.

BUT it sort of depends how many bus/trains you are taking, how far etc as transportation costs can add up very quickly. Maybe pick 5 to 6 places to visit at most for your 21 days. 4 or at max 5 for 14 days.

A decent average 'backpacker' budget is about 70 euros a day for most of western Europe.Of course, depends exactly where you go and how often you move...every time you move city, that costs you more.Plus what type of accommodation, food, organised activities, nightlife etc. you want.

3 weeks on 70 euros a day is about 1500 euros.

Talk with us b4 buying any plane tic. There's a how to getting a good price.

With all that money, why restrict yourself to three weeks? You've worked your butt off through school. Now its time to start learning about the world, at your own pace.

I live in New York. I looked up some prices online and it seems pretty expensive! I am still in school now and will be able to buy the ticket on April- once I figure out my budget and travel plan. Any advice about how to get a good deal in air fare ?

I would love to spend more than 2-3 weeks if my budget allows me to do so :)

TAP Air line (Portuguese( has cheap flights from NYC to Lisbon.

Narrow your circle of countries. Spain and Porrrtugahhl are bezarre and enough to keep you agast and agog.

Portugal is the cheapest to visit. Off the beaten, because its not in the center of other countries.

youtube has great bbc documentaries. "Islam History of Europe" first 4 chapters are on Spanish city states.

Think tanks!

Expensive (and cheap) are relative...and mean different things to different people.

You need to look at several different sites, trying different times, dates (and different destinations if you are not sure where you want to start).

Many of the cheapest fares for mid-May might already be gone...and if you leave it til April, they will be higher than they are now....

What price did you find? Which dates, and from where to where?
