Interest forums / Travel on a shoestring

hey people!
does anyone know any nice pilgrimage routes in europe? apart from the camino de santiago in spain (know that one:) n recommend it, its wonderful!). please any info would be great...how long are the routes, where from/to, how much money should one have with them?and when is the best time to go....info/ reflections would be great!thanx

For a short walk, try the Cammino de Francesco (St
Francis Walk) in Italy.

There are also many links to the Camino de Santiago in France: walking from Paris to St Jean Pied de Port; Lourdes to SJPP; Arles to the Somport Pass; Le Puy en Velay to the border; Vezelay to the border. And, of course, the many different routes through Spain itself.

In England there are walks to the Marion shrine at Walsingham in Norfolk; also walks to Canterbury.

I've only walked the Camino Frances, so can't comment on the other pilrimages. But for the various Camino de Santiago (Chemin de St Jacques) through France, the Confraternity of St James is a good start. Googling should bring up some information on the rest.

Confraternity of Pilgrims to Rome and Via Francigena Yahoo Group are two more useful sources of information about the Via Francigena

The Via Podiensis in France is a great route. It follows the GR65 through France before joining the camino Frances in Spain and on to Santiago de Compostela.

I completed the walk from Le Puy en Velay to Santiago in July 2010 and put together a web site with information, photographs and my experiences. Hope this is of use to anyone wanting to do one of the pilgrim routes in Europe.

The site is called Dusty Track .
