Hello everyone. I'm from Australia and I'm organizing a holiday for myself and my partner to NY, We are planning to go for Christmas 2013 and I had some questions. Hopefully there are some people who live there on this forum as I wanted to know what it is like there at Christmas. I know we see this images and "holiday Scenes" in movies and I'm wondering if it is going to be like that? I really wanted to come for a white Christmas but was unsure if it snows regularly at this time of year every year or not? I know it will be cold and I'm not fazed by that but as wondering if attractions such as central park zoo and Coney Island still run, operate and will still be able to be enjoyed at this time. It has always been something I wanted to do but I don't want to get there, pay the expensive flights for this time of year and be disappointed. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks

Anyway, for what its worth...I've been to NYC at Christmas and it was a great experience.

Yes,it was cold..and yes, there was snow.Central park was nice to walk in.I didn't go to Coney Island on that trip but i guess it would be pretty deserted at that time of year (if the 'rides' part is even open...the boardwalk is there of course, and the beach...but no swimming ;-)

It is expensive to fly to at that time of year, but for me definitely worth it...really nice atmosphere, all the shops are lit up,the decorations are great......
