Hi,

We will be driving for about 7-10 days from Toulouse (France) to Venice (Italy) via Nice. We will just skim across the northern part of Italy. I am thinking of driving From Toulouse to Geneve (Switzerland) and down to Nice or possibly missing out on Geneve. What is the most scenic and preferrably non-toll road route?

Thanks, Zingy

If I were to drive to Geneva I would not then turn around and drive down to Nice. I'd continue through Switzerland and then down to Venice. There are so many scenic ways to drive from Toulouse to Venice that I wouldn't think of suggesting 1 way as being the MOST scenic.

How many dasys to you want to invest: the route through the Alps is very scenic, but many passes are closed until June. A scenic route open all the year round would be:
Toulouse - Avignon - Gap - Briancon - Montgenevre - Bardonnecchia - Frejus Tunnel - Albertville - Chamonix - Mont Blanc Tunnel - Aosta - Gd St-Bernard Tunnel - Martigny - Sion - Crans - Montana - Sierre - Brig - Simplon Pass - Domodossola - Verbania - Ferry - Laveno - Luino - Ponte Tresa - Porto Ceresio - Lugano - Menaggio - Chiavenna - St. Moritz - Zernez - Ofenpass - Merano - Bolzano - Caldaro - Trento - Riva sul Garda - Salo - Desenzano - Verona - Venezia.
