I have been travelling for some 20 years and always used trailfinders. Recently, it seems that the company's business model has changed - lots of expensive flights and packages now. The company often charges more than my local high street travel agent.

There are loads of internet flights available but I've heard some horror stories about incompetence and dishonesty. Can anyone recommend from experience cheap, reliable and honest internet companies from which I can obtain flights ?

It would aso be good to know of any companies to be avoided.

Thanks.

Skyscanner is a good bet,

where do you want to fly to? there are budget routes for many places that your best bet is just to go directly to the airline.

Expedia is fine...so is Opodo....Kayak....there are many others.

I've been using these companies for years and never had any problems.....

If you are taking budget airlines then do it directly,as mentioned above-Easyjet,Airasia etc. etc.

If you have to cancel, every middle man gives a big fine.

If you are using budget airlines, just be aware of hidden costs and add-ons. It's not dishonest, but not completely upfront either.

There is an alternative to flying; plenty of travellers cross oceans by hitching a lift on a boat. Although it takes much longer, it is far more comfortable than cattle class of an Airbus

I wouldn't mind doing this. But crossing the Pacific Ocean from Australia to South America would be a bloody long trip in itself. Or anywhere that isn't SE Asia/NZ/South Pacific.

I've used Kayak, Orbitz, Vayama - for international travel with good success.

southall travel for trips to India and SE Asia.
if you want to book with Trailfinders theres a couple of people selling Giftcards on E-Bay for less than value left on card.
one way of getting flights even cheaper.
