Greece - what to do with 3 days near Olympus or Athens

(I hope nobosy minds me postung this also in western Europe branch)

Hi everybody,

I am going to Greece in about 3 weeks with one main purpose - to climb mount Olympus.
after the trek I'll have another 3 days to enjoy myself in this amazing county but i have no idea what to do with them.
I will be traveling on a backpackers budget and by public transport only.

do i have time to go to Pilion and enjoy some beaches there? where else can i go Beaching which would make sense? anywhere nice and quiet near litochoro (been there before and i don't remember the beach as being that great)? how about near Athens or somewhere in between? do i have time to hop to a near by island?

Any advice would be appreciated,
