The UK Government, The EU gravy drinkers - whoever, demand that UK budget airlines scrap their £7 debit/credit card fee, stating that is now unlawful - or sommat like that.
EasyJet's response....
'We now add on a £9 admin fee.'
That's all sorted - then.

Brilliant.

My main gripe though is that they don't show the total cost up-front, including all mandatory "extras". If all airlines were legally obliged to do that, it would be easier to compare prices without having to go through the whole booking first.

I know. That's so annoying isn't it.
I feel the 'Grrr' factor so often when booking a budget take-off.
However, the vast majority of the time - they still work out cheaoer than most national carriers.

I just had a look at it......on the Italian site they give you 2 prices......on a €54 flight.

One is €71 (with a credit card)...........the other is €65 with a 'discount'for paying by debit card!

At least if you are more than 2 people you only pay this €11 (or €17)once...not for each passenger.

That's so interesting.
A different 'Extra'.... Or at least worded differently.

Jetstar in Australia does that. They have a whole range of fees for payment, depending on how you pay. It's only free if you pay in cash or using a Jetstar credit card (which isn't really free at all, because there's an annual charge on that credit card).

Like the new Ryanair 'Free' (not) card - huh?

It's really annoying, especially for us with Visa Electrons. Anyways, keep in mind that you pay that per transaction, so if you want to buy 10 flights you still pay "only" 11 euros.
