Interest forums / Travel on a shoestring

Hi,

Any ideas on the best mode and quickest mode of travel from Croatia to Greece. My partner and I will be travelling through there in May and are trying to figure out how to do it. It is easy to bus down through Montenegro and Albania or is it best to go from Zagreb through Bosnia/Serbia/Macedonia?? Cant find out much info in relation to train travel in this area?? i know we will be missing out not seeing these countries but am limited in time and need to get from Croatia to Greece (Athens) and hopefully in a day or two.

Cheers

again some Ozzie who did not use search. This is the tipical Ozzie Q (kiwi's seem to be a bit more knowledgeable), at least asked 3/week in main season and already some 3/4 times this year. Just reading FAQ in top will also give the clues for train times etc. And DO state for those who dont click 2x to check nation, YOURS, as need for visa may also play havoc (macedonia.......

ATHINE - DUBROVNIK

It is very easy to go from Athens to Dubrovnik.
Take the bus from Athens to Patras (every 30 minutes), then a ferry to Bari in Italy (twice daily) and change there to a ferry to Dubrovnik in Croatia (daily in high season). That's all!
There are low cost flights from Athens to Bari too: www.myair.com

Timetables (not yet all updated):
Patras - Bari: www.superfast.com, www.agoudimos-lines.com
Bari -Dubrovnik: www.jadrolinija.hr, www.azzurraline.com/ENG, www.dimaiolines

You may also take the daily Athens - Tirana bus. There you change the bus and go up to Shkoder, from there with a minibus to Ulcinj or Bar in Montenegro and catch there the direct bus to Dubrovnik.
