-As there isn’t an easy way from Athens to Dubrovnik, is it worth the effort? Or should I bypass Croatia and Slovenia and have more time in Italy…or even use that time travelling through the south of France?
Beld (Slovenia) is DEFINATELY worth it!

-How should I best spend my last few days? I’m not fussed about Paris but wouldn’t mind seeing it, and Berlin seems like my kind of scene, I’m not sure..
Both those are very very interesting...It's very hard to recommend one over the other but...if i had to chose...i say i'd chose Paris. The museums are just amazing (not just the Louvre!)

Yeh, the more I think about it, the more reluctant I am to leave Slovenia off the list and now seem to have a more appropriate way of getting there, so I won't miss out.
The general consensus of people I have talked to recently is that I should go for Paris and I'm coming around to the idea..I think the Lourve may be the clincher.

Fly to Naxos and hop around some islands for 10 days (mainly Ios).
Fly back to Athens, Catch train to Skopje Via Thessaloniki, Hope for a bus or something to Dubrovnik.

No need to fly(unless you have them as add-ons on your RTW ticket), take a ship!
There's nothing on Ios!!! Any other island is much better:Naxos, Amorgos, Santorini etc.

--Travel (1 day)--
Catch a train from Madrid to Lisbon

It's actually a night train, so don't count it as a day lost!

Portugal (8 days)
Spend a couple days in Lisbon, then bus it down south to Sagres and Lagos, then back up to Lisbon.

Central and North Portugal is much better than the South! Sintra, Tomar, Porto, Douro river

Finland (4 days)
This is the definite part of my trip as it is a stop-over in Helsinki on my way to Tokyo, although I could have the duration reduced to give me some extra days on mainland Europe.

Take a ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn for a day or two!

Well if you are heading for the Louvre then you should know:

"Free to kids under 18, disabled visitors and their guests, art teachers (with teacher ID), journalists (with press card), and visitors under 26 on Friday evenings from 6pm-9:45pm. The Louvre is free for everyone on the first Sunday of the month and July 14 (Bastille Day)."

Looks like Friday evenings would apply to you. Although I'm not sure about your age since I can't reconcile 'uni graduation' with '21 year olds'.

hey thanks pszeker! that's exactly the kind of info I was looking for..I've been told recently by someone to head north in Portugal rather than south, so I think I'll take both your's and his advice..then I can fly from Porto to Paris.
Also cheers for the tip about Tallinn..it looks extremely cool, I really had no idea about what to do in Helsinki, so this should solve that problem..if you think of anymore good tips like this let me know:)

Really? Well at last count I was 21, I've also spent the last 4 years at university..at what age would you expect to finish uni? is there a later high-school leaving age where you are?
