Hi guys!
Its that time of year again and I'm planning on where to go for Christmas. Am thinking of Krakow, Budapest or Athens. I'm a female travelling alone and wondered if anyone could advise me if one would be better than the others. I know that things are closed over christmas but like last year I went to Lisbon and visited the aquarium christmas day so if you know of something that i could visit on xmas day that would be great. I like places that are quaint and pretty with a bit of history. Am planning on being away for 4/5 nights.
I am open to suggestions of other destinations but it needs to be a low cost airline destination (from the UK) -am travelling on a budget but well who isn't!
Thanks as always for your help!

Of course Krakow!! It is nicest magic city in Europe!!!
Go there!!

You like cold, then?
I'd go to Marrakech - everything will be open on Christmas day there. Cheap flights from Ryanair and, I think Easyjet.
Or to Luxor, where the temperature will be oh-so-warm and there's so much to see. Fare will be a liitle more, but accommodation will be much cheaper so things balance out.
Do you know that Christmas in Athens is not on December 25th? It celebrates Orthodox Christmas.
Thanks for your help so far - I've just been looking at Easyjet and they now go to Vienna - any thoughts on here instead? how expensive is the cost of living? The Wombat hostel looks great too.
Thanks for the suggestion of Luxor and Marakesh but I'm not really comfortable travelling to either of those places on my own. Any other suggestions are welcome though!
Saint Nicolas, bishop of Myra, was also a major combattant of Islam. Maybe George W. Bush is the new Santa Claus.

Kerouac2 - Amazing information.
"... the one fact concerning the life of Nicholas of which we can be absolutely certain is that he was bishop of Myra in the fourth century."
[Ref."Lives of Saints", Published by John J. Crawley & Co., Inc.]
Since Islam didn't get going until the 7th century, did Nicholas rise from the dead?
Sorry, I had come across an inaccurate biographical note. However, he must have done something that pissed off the people of the region because
Quote

.... because the Iraqis tried to desecrate his remains.
