Another Rail Pass Query

Interest forums / Travel on a shoestring

I have to agree with earlier posts, it's pretty confusing with so many different sites offering various Rail Passes in Europe.

We have a group of 4 (1 Senior and 3 Adults).
We are going to be travelling on routes:

nice - marseille return
nice - monaco
rome - florence
florence - pisa return
florence - venice
bordeaux - toulouse
toulouse - barcelona

We also were looking at a sleeper from lyon - rome, but have since found out it is now only Geneva - Rome.

What kind of pass would someone suggest for something like this. It will be over a period of about 6 weeks.

Thanks in advance for any information :-)

Hi there

When was travelling in France (not in the high season) I found that the booking offices - eg in Lyon - were extremely helpful and that I was able to qualify for all sorts of discounts provided I travelled out of rush hour. I did not buy a rail pass at all and found that booking the day before was quite adequate. I travelled for a month and bought a one year discount voucher from the French Rail. This saved a lot.

Suggest you do some research on here - I doubt whether a railpass would be cheaper than point to point tickets for the trips you suggest.
