I will be in Amsterdam in November, after a few days in Paris for about two days. Prior to that I would have traveled across the US,gone the length of GB, and over to Paris by Euro Star. I want a clean smoke free B&B,Hostel,Private Home, or Hotel close to the canals and railway station. I am not young, but young at heart, traveling alone, but can meet up for fun(not gay),company, and exploring the city by bike or walking. Then I will be on my way again to the next city.
Actually it is part of a trip that will (hopefully) encourage older citizens to go back packing, self sufficient, making most bookings on line and not be drawn into tour groups. My plans are to cover as much as possible around world by rail and use only air or sea passages unless absolutely necessary.I hope to make a documentary and book of the trip targeted at the older retired person.
In Australia we are known as "Grey Nomads", I purposely want to be a solo traveler, but meet people along the way and hear from them, either fellow travelers or citizens of the places I visit. After Amsterdam,my plan is to go through Germany,Russia, and south to Tashkent and across to Western China,Vietnam,Malaysia,Indonesia and Australia from Darwin to Sydney and back to my home for Christmas, riding the rails as much a possible.I would like to have any sponsorship that I can get and this will be acknowledged. So far I have a few interested, mainly in the supply of equipment and accommodation and apparell
Any suggestions or advice from other travellers will be appreciated.

What makes you think there is anything the least bit unique about this? There are plenty of older travellers making their way around the world. Most of them are probably more capable of writing in the English language than you are as well.

I think you are labouring under some real illusions as to older travellers. Perhaps you haven't been getting out much up until now. Try posting this on the Older Travellers branch and see what reaction you get. LOL

As for a documentary and writing a book, good luck. You and 10,000 others all have the same idea.

Hey BpGuruagain from the look of your profile and past postings to others here, you are a professional flamer ,plus I do not really need your gratuitious advice.Try having a more positive outlook or get off this planet. People have more love in them than you obviously have ever experienced. The world would be a better place without the bucket loads of your negativity.Get back in your sty mate.

the TT has a special thread for this, scroll down furhter.
If you want to visit the place your nickname is;
GOES is a major''city'' in the nice water-(also dams, dikes) abundant province of ZEELAND, and has an hourly Intercity train direct to Amsterdam, takes some 2 hr 20 mins.
next shell-shock: yoyu do not need to prebook eachanything online before. Also nov is about thwe very worst month here in NL to come: damp, grey, very short daylight, often storms, fog=mist, rain+more rainmore drizzle. the only diverting is the glorious entry of Sinterklaas in his old steamboat on the 3d saturdya of that month: dont miss it! free 'local-style seasonal candy handed out by the ''black peters!''
In west-Europe the trains are considered awful expensive and though there are senior discounts, they will often )read close lines!) ONLY apply to EU-seniors! OR you must first buy an expensive 'senior-disocunt card'' forfeiting any gains on just 1/2 trips. eurolines.com has far, far cheaper international buslinks.

Gratuitous has no second 'i' in it Goes.

I'm sorry to see that you obviously did not accept my comments as written but instead apparently chose to read into them some implied criticism rather than a simple statement of facts which is what they were.

  1. There is nothing unique about your proposed travels that would attract the attention of serious sponsors.
  2. Your command of English, as demonstrated in your post at least, is not sufficient for the writing of a book.
  3. Thousands of travellers (and quite a few posters here on the TT) get the idea of writing a book about their travels.

Reminds me of the joke about the 2 guys who met in a bar on a tropical island. One asked the other what he did and the reply was, ' I'm a travel writer.' To which the first fellow replied, 'oh really, I've always thought I would like to write a book when I retire. The travel writer then asked what the other fellow did and the reply was, 'I'm a heart surgeon'. To which the writer replied, 'oh really, I've always thought I would like to try heart surgery when I retire.

Perhaps you will be able to figure out the point of that joke Goes, or perhaps not. Of course if you are a documentary film maker and writer, of note, then the joke would not be applicable. Feel free to tell me I've put my foot in my mouth by assuming you aren't either of those.

Now that, Goes, is a flame.
