Hi, we (couple & kid) are planning for swiss tour from weekend (6th & 7th April) from dusseldorf, Germany.
Can you advice :
1) Optimal travel to Swiss if I leave dusseldorf at Friday eve.
2) Recommended travel in swiss- we would prefer sight seeking
3) Return travel to Dusseldorf on Sunday eve.
This is a shoestring budget.
why leave Dusseldorf! there's an awesome art museum there (in case you and the hubby like art, i don't know if kid is old enough to appreciate it) called Kunstsammlung NRW (http://www.germany-travel.org/kunstsammlung-nrw-wolfgang-tillmans/). and i second what tempelton said, Switzerland is no place to cut costs. if you stay in Dusseldorf, an added perk is the good food to be found there - read somewhere that's it's got the highest expat Japanese population in Germany (just an example, sushi fan here). stay!
