Not sure if this is the appropriate branch to post but im sure I will get some replys..
Ok to all the experienced travellers on this I would like some Info or advice as to what you can give me on traveling. For someone my age (22) going at it solo with a budget of around 5 to 6k where would use reccomend to go to and for how long? Ive researched quite a bit on South America and Asia but feel it would be best to hear some opinions from people who have actually been there and done it. Also is it possible to work and fund your travels as you go or is this hard to come

I back-packed through the Middle East (Egypt-Israel-Palestine-Jordan) this summer (23 years old and a woman) It was amazing, those 4 weeks I was out traveling I probobly used €400 - Israel being the most expensive place. I know there is a lot of stuff happening down there, but my experince was as long as you used common sense ( a lot of common sense!!!) and followed the news and talked to people, you're fine :)

Yeah It seems from the research ive being doing tht SEAsia would fit the bill! Still I do think Its maybe just one of theese things that one place wont fit all.

What currency is your budget in?

What are your interests?

How long do you want to go for?

Your question is so vague. People can't give you any useful information based on your original post.

Yes you said a budget of 5-6k but is that euros? dollars?

You listed no interests or what you are hoping to see. Do you like beaches? cities? countryside?

You said you have looked at S America and Asia. They are both huge places. You need to be more specific. Also do you want us to pick between S America and Asia? Suggest somewhere else you could look at?

You ask us how long 5-6k (of unknown currency) will last? The answer is always going to be it depends. We don't know if your looking to live like a king in luxury hotels or a tight budget (again you don't provide this information).

Also it it is really hard to fund your travels as you go. Unless you have a unique set of skills, or can do your current work on the road you will struggle. If you just want to earn enough to live off that is more realistic, but you are still depending on getting a visa and finding work.

You also need to provide information on where you are flying from. If you are in USA central America is going to be a lot cheaper to fly to than for instance Africa. This will change your budget and costs.

For a single 22 yr old amateur backpacker, I think it's very hard to go wrong with SE Asia. South America is an option too. I would go there if you have an interest in learning Spanish. And as for finding work and funding your trip, it is possible but difficult, and whatever you find will likely not pay much. I'd just forget about that idea, save up money at home instead. One exception would be Australia/New Zealand/Canada on a WHV.

james 2020 the currency is GBP and I dont have any places in mind as to where I want to go (the reason for my post in the first place) is to gather information on that. The time frame I have in mind (again the reason I created the post)

Max_mexico.. Yeah think ill take your advice on the whole working to fund my travels idea and just concentrate on a detination and time frame. Ive applied for the IEC Canada work visa this year but to be fair doesnt look promising as they are really popular although I have completed the first part of the programme.
