Me and my girlfriend have recently got back from a trip to Sri Lanka. We are already looking to plan our next adventure for 2014. We would like to find a budget holiday destination with a mix of beaches, culture, wildlife and adventure. The places we have previously been to are Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bali, Lombok, Gili Islands, Thailand and Brazil. Just to give an idea of the kind of thing we like. Any suggestions are welcome.

Is the DR a budget destination Toad?

I've never been there,but I had the impression its a package tour kind of place..lots of Italians go there for a week or two on the beach.

lucapal, I've not been to Domincan Rep. but I was reading about it, it's one of those places where you have beaches over-run by package tourists and then the rest of the country is a play-ground for anyone willing to go and explore. Sounds very similar to Cuba minus the communist heritage and time-warp feeling. I don't think it's as cheap as, say Nicaragua, but it's probably on a par with the likes of Costa Rica if you leave the resort beaches.

Thanks for your suggestions, keep them coming. We are free to go any time of year, but we enjoy the sun and hot climates, so in good season.

Cambodia or Turkey, very different from each other, but both great countries.
Turkey is not so well known for wildlife, but both have there fair share of beaches, culture, adventure, great food etc.
