Hi,

Student in Dublin who is looking for an adventure, preferably more than 2 weeks. Unfortunately will only have around 1000 euro, of which most will be taken up by flights which I realise. My aim is to get as far away as possible, I want an adventure. Has anybody any experience of a great trip they took on such a limited budget?

Literally any advice would be much appreciated, thanks a million!

I think your post may be a little bit vague to be honest Barry - pretty hard for anyone to recommend anything when you havent expressed any interests etc.
However, my gut instinct is to say India. You could probably get a return flight for 350 - 400 euros plus some insurance would probably leave you 500 euros. I would say that you could get 3 weeks of travel around India on that kind of budget if you dont mind cheap guesthouses, cheaper palces to eat etc. This is based on my own past experience of travelling with £2000 for 10 weeks but that was for two people and was a couple of years ago

Morocco or Egypt are both cheap-ish to fly to and dirt cheap to travel in.

[www.skyscanner.net] for cheap flights. Put in the whole month option to find out the cheapest days.

But you make your own adventures - it's even possible to have them in Ireland.
Have you read Round Ireland With a Fridge+ ? Can't remember the author's name but he went hitch-hiking with a small fridge and had ever so much fun on very little money. Then he +made money by writing a book about his adventures.
Tip: when hitch-hiking, a gimmick not only gets you more rides, it sometimes even gets you free lodging. (My gimmick in 1971 was a baby in a buggy - we had a whole heap of fun.)

you could easily do egypt. flight..... then cairo/ pyramids, head to siwa, and in a pinch, could head to dahab for some sun and sea. Couchsurf if you go broke.

i would say north africa. egypt for example. most of your budget will be swallowed up with flights.

Vague indeed, that's mainly due to me not having a notion of where i'd like to go. Would India be good for travelling alone, though? Based on your experience. Thanks for all the answers by the way!

I travelled through India on my own and had a fantastic time. But then i also had significantly more than a grand. the flights alone cost me near 600 quid!
