Hey guys!

Just curious--what methods do you guys use to get traffic towards your site? What tips can you give?

I've been running my blog for three months now, and while the initial rising surge of traffic was exciting, it's starting to plateau, and I'm looking for new ways to keep my readership growing. What's worked for you?

Thanks a bunch!

Posting a link to your site here...?? Oh...you did that already...

Posting your site on Craig's List ....??

Friending lots of people on social media...??

Linking all your flikr photos to your site...?? If that's legal...

Actually I find that information is better than pretty pictures...provide a back story... a narrative is something people like... Give them something to read... Just photos of hostels and hotels seem to be searched for by many people... Food and Drink shots are popular...Cute animals... Always have interesting people in your photos...people have a huge interest in looking at other people...

Keep your topics varied...casting a wider net seems to generate more page views...obvious perhaps.

Try to make your blog headings very similar to....OK exactly like... something someone would search for on Google... I have an old posting about the transit hotel at the airport in Singapore...and that thing never stops generating hits... The morbid, curious, strange seems to have a big interest...I have some photos of that "New World Order" mural at Denver Airport...and that thing has been on fire for years... Go weird...

Buy some advertizing...? See and be seen on the Net...frequently...

Write an article of story about yourself or your travels...and try to get it on a high traffic site...

And of course maintain a very high quality...

Update often. Developing readers takes time, and and slow traffic times are completely normal and to be expected.

I always try and have my updates register on other websites such as facebook (it helps to have a pretty key photo that will help draw attention!) That way all your friends can immediately tell when you've updated a new post. You can put the link to your blog in subtle ways, such as in your email signature, your thorntree signature and profile...

You might also want to consider submitting your blog to search engines, making sure to have many tags in your posts. I've noticed that in recent times, a lot of my traffic is accidental - I'll have a tags that make my blog come up under that search term, even if it wasn't what they meant to find!

happy blogging!
