hello. i've got a lot of problems, but i'd still like to travel the world. however, i find the relentless optimism of most travel blogs really disheartening, because, frankly, i just can't relate. can someone point me in the direction of a person who's perhaps experienced a crack-up or two?

thank you.

Agreed... I don't want to hear how much fun the other guy is having...!

And I loath..."Here's me standing in front of___" photos...!

The only problem is middle class people...tend to plan things ...and nothing ever goes wrong...

Try and get lost...stranded...better yet mugged...

Ohhh stop your complaining, everyone's got their own problems, some worse then others. Doesn't mean they come on a travel forum and start telling everyone that they have 'problems'.

There are people who have it worse then you, way worse. They have problems, problems like where their next meal is going to come from. Problems like whether they will still be alive in the morning. Problems like will they be able to over come cancer, heart disease etc. People in Africa, Asia and South America have major problems, problems that eclipse your problems any day.

You just have problems because you refuse to stay positive and look on the brighter side, and before you reply don't say you are positive, if you were you wouldn't be on a travel forum telling everyone that you have problems.

In the end its quite selfish, and self absorbed, get over yourself, and stop complaining. Stay positive!

no, you don't get it--i would like a link to the blogs of these people with the problems you describe. what i don't want is a link to the "stay positive" blogs. please provide links along with your lecture!

i don't necessarily need links to blogs of people who have problems, perhaps...maybe just people who wrestle with the world's problems, in general--or perhaps just acknowledge them. what i find fatiguing is how so many travel blogs just seem to project this childish delight, as if the world is just a giant playground. it just doesn't seem that way to me, and i would like to find some travel blogs to read that take a more balanced view, both of the world and of the author as an individual. this would make it much easier for me to relate, and thus be much more inspirational (for me). i think, in general, most people find relentless optimism inspiring, but i do not, simply because, for me, it does not feel authentic.

My travel blog . I try to be realistic - negative when something negative happens on the road and positive when something positive happens
