Hiiiii Pathfinders!

What have you Instagrammed this month? Share the link for your best travel related Instagram capture below, and you could be featured in our monthly Instagram round-up on the Lonely Planet blog!

Check out last month's round-up here.

To be considered for the monthly Instagram round-up, please include a short explanation along with the link to give us a little more context about the shot.

Whether your picture was taken abroad on a big trip or somewhere closer to home, your submission shouldn’t just be any old ‘nice shot’. It needs to represent a destination in a way that intrigues us and gets us daydreaming or reaching for our passports.

Please disclose any sponsorships that may be tied to the image, and please ensure you give geographic detail about where the place pictured is. Ideally, the image should fill the full square Instagram format and not have a white border around it (however, this is not a must).

Images need to be your own, and originally posted in the month of April 2016. For your entry to be valid you must be signed up to Lonely Planet Pathfinders. You can post on the thread a maximum of 3 entries for the month. Entries beyond this limit we won't be able to consider.

Here’s an example:

Destination: Acaime Peak, Cocora Valley in Los Nevados National Park. Colombia. South America.
Context: Whilst in Colombia (with G Adventures) we captured this on on our morning hike, which took us upwards of 2700 meters! There was the chance rain would ruin the shot, but in the end it provided just that right amount of extra detail and texture to the image.

Deadline for submissions: Midnight 2 May 2016.

If successful, we will let you know in this thread, and PM you with more details. Successful applicants will feature in a blog post on lonelyplanet.com. We will link to your Instagram profile and blog in the post.

Good luck and happy travels! :)

Destination: Skogafoss, South Iceland
Context: Trolls are deeply entrenched in the folktales and lore of Iceland - here, my wife Christina gazes upon the majestic Skogafoss waterfall alongside a troll that has been frozen into rock and forever stares upon the cascade of water that falls from the cliff.

Destination: Salzburg, Austria
Context: On Christmas Eve, after visiting the Hohensalzburg Fortress that looms above the old town of Salzburg, we walked along the Monchsberg cliffs that stand tall above the city. Looking out on the Altstadt from this viewpoint, you can see the baroque architecture the city is known for, along with the Hohensalzburg Fortress standing guard above it all to the right.

Destination: Machu Picchu, Peru
Context: After hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, we had some free time to take in the Lost City. This photo was snapped shortly after the fog cleared revealing Huayna Micchu (the peak in the background) and the ruins below.

Destination: Ahu Tongariki, Easter Island, Chile
Context: While visiting Easter Island we rented a car so that we could easily explore the island. On one particular morning we got up before sunrise and drove out to Ahu Tongariki, the archaeological site that boasts 15 moai. This is the best place to catch the sun seemingly rising from the ocean and the sight did not disappoint!

Destination: St. Gilgen, Austria
Context: While taking the cable car up from St. Gilgen, we glided silently over the Wolfgangsee, surrounded by the quaint Austrian villages of St. Gilgen, St. Wolfgang, and Strobl. The juxtaposition of the calm waters and the towering Alps surrounding them were breathtaking to behold.

Destination: Rano Raraku, Easter Island
Context: Getting up close and personal with the moai in Rano Raraku. This ancient volcano acted as a quarry for the moai you see scattered across the island, and you can find hundreds of unfinished and half-buried moai still standing here. If you're interested in seeing how the moai were carved, this abandoned work site is the place to do so.
