Hey there Pathfinders!

This month our Instagram round-up’s going to be a little different. We want to see your snaps of our Best in Travel destinations for 2017! If you haven’t seen them, check out the lists here:

Best in Travel countries
Best in Travel cities
Best in Travel regions
Best in Travel value
Share the link for your best Instagram capture below, and you could be featured in our Best in Travel round-up on the Lonely Planet blog!

Please include a short explanation along with the link to give us a little more context about the shot.

Whether your picture was taken abroad on a big trip or somewhere closer to home, your submission shouldn’t just be any old ‘nice shot’. It needs to represent a destination in a way that intrigues us and gets us daydreaming or reaching for our passports.

Please disclose any sponsorships that may be tied to the image, and please ensure you give geographic detail about where the place pictured is. Ideally, the image should not have a white border around it (however, this is not a must).

Images need to be your own, and originally posted any time from January 2014. For your entry to be valid you must be signed up to Lonely Planet Pathfinders. You can post on the thread a maximum of 3 entries for the month. Entries beyond this limit we won't be able to consider.

Here’s an example:

Destination: Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada
Context: Kananaskis is a dream destination for keen kayakers because of its wonderful rapids flowing at high speeds (and beautifully blue water!). When driving from #Calgary airport to the #LakeLouise area in #BanffNationalPark I saw a sign to #Kananaskis and had a bit of spare time so I asked if we could stop and check it out. This is a spot not many people know about and now it’s one of my favourites. I’m so happy that we found it!

Deadline for submissions: Midnight 10 November 2016.

If successful, we will let you know in this thread, and PM you with more details. Successful applicants will be featured in a blog post on lonelyplanet.com. We will link to your Instagram profile and blog in the post.

Good luck and we can't wait to see what you bring us!

Destination: Taghazout, Morocco
Context: Taghazout is a small surf town on Morocco's Atlantic Ocean coast. It's a mixture of old and new, as with everything in Morocco. Pretty buildings in blue overlook Taghazout Beach and it looked so picturesque as the sun was going down, it just had to be photographed. The use of blue around the town reflects the locals connection to the ocean and is something I will always remember about Taghazout.

Destination: Cape Town, South Africa
Context: There is just something about Cape Town that keeps you longing for more. Whether you are looking for hip restaurants and shopping areas, amazing cultural diversity, or unbelievable natural charms - #CapeTown has it all. This amazing landscape is photographed from Signal Hill, just hours after our arrival in #SouthAfrica for the second time. We loved the country the first time and standing here on this hill just reconfirmed what we already knew - South Africa has stolen our hearts. We'll be back!

Destination: Kathmandu, Nepal
Context: Just a few weeks before a massive earthquake struck Nepal in April 2015, I spent an evening photographing Patan Durbar's historic temples and palace on the outskirts of Kathmandu. Having been back since and seen the destruction to the area, these photos mean even more to me as a historical document to show the beauty of the area before the damage the earthquake wrought, and with any luck what it will look like again with time and work.

Destination: Sea to Sky Gondola, Vancouver, Canada
Context: You really don't need to go far from Vancouver to get into the one thing that the country's become so famous for - its raw, natural beauty. Just 30 minutes from the city is the Sea to Sky Gondola, and the views of the snowcapped mountains at the top really are something else!

Destination: Cathedral Park, Portland, USA
Context: Portland is one of the hippest cities in all of the States and it is packed full of weird and wonderful attractions. However, just on the edge of the city is Cathedral Park, home to one of the most fascinating bridges you'll ever see. Rumour has it they used to hold secret religious ceremonies here!

Context: Not many people realise that Helsinki is actually made up of hundreds of different islands, and you only really get to see that flying over the city. From up here you really get a sense of how vast Helsinki and Finland is, and how naturally beautiful it is too.
