As for many people, my travel blog started off as a sort of online diary, a way of remembering my travels and sharing experiences with family and friends. But when I realised other people were reading it I started to take it more seriously! And then I got offered an "exit package" from the day job, and the whole thing mushroomed...

Well it's quite mild and sunny here in Hong Kong. I have to be honest and say that I have avoided blogging about travel though I have guested on a few sites. There seem to be so many sites out there nowadays and I wonder if the scene is getting saturated? I do keep in touch with several selected bloggers however as I like to see what's generally trending. Love photographing our travels and writing about them too, though I tend to write articles for various publications especially on living abroad. I think the style of writing can be very different between travel writing (books, magazines etc.) and travel blogging.

Has blogging now become your 'day job'?

Interesting viewpoint! How do you document your personal travels?

That, and writing novels (now on the second one). Although I can't pretend to be making a living from it yet - it's a good job I've got the "exit package"!

Hi efrost, I do post photos to my flickr page and also the odd note on FB (I have a personal page and another dedicated to a travel book I had published which also doubles as a general page for travelling). Otherwise I just accumulate notes, facts and tales for future reference, maybe to appear in an article or another book later - happy travels !

I've been travelling for decades and often help friends and family plan their adventures. A friend suggested I start a blog and I acted on her advice. I enjoy creating - writing, painting, gardening - so blogging fits well with my lifestyle. And I recently realized that the blog is also a travel diary for my children.

I'm totally new to LP Pathfinders, so I'm still feeling my way around the website and looking forward to connecting with all of you.
I love reading blogs about other travelers and we’d just come back from an interesting two week trip to Zimbabwe in 2003. Although it wasn’t the most adventurous, a few things happened that I thought would be lovely to share with others. I sat down to write, thinking that if I felt it the least little bit interesting to read over I may just publish it in a travel blog. I’d found a free travel blog on a website and it looked easy to start up. I went ahead and published my blog and found quite a few people enjoyed my story.
Since then I have written over 70 travel blogs about various destinations and holidays. Earlier this year, in August, I decided to launch my own website and write travel blogs, rewriting old ones and adding new ones as we head to other destinations. I have found it's a great way to record our travel stories and I'm hoping to eventually earn an income from my travel blogs.
