My hubby & I are in a position to actually consder giving up our jobs & travelling for a year. We are contemplating Africa & Sth America since they are both big destinations. Since they are big destinations we are slightly contemplating doing an overland type trip so we can focus on the trip rather than the logistics. Would love any thoughts on doing an overland type trip (eg Dragoman) so 2 folks a couple of years either side of 50????? Thanks in advance. J

Hi
Looking for some advise.
My partner and I are ready to travel this summer, no ties and good to go! We would love to spend some time living and working in Toronto but from what I have read we would not get a visa, perhaps a work permit, which would be ok for us. My partner is a very experienced retail manager with 20 plus years in the business and excellent references, I work in social care, speciality autism and have a city & guilds in teaching support and have worked with children with special…
I'm a full time professional photographer and am headed to SE Asia next winter for a personal adventure. I'm looking for paid assignments and/or unique opportunities to shoot for local or international NGO's or governmental organizations, and I wondered if anyone can recommend any organizations in the area that tend to hire professional photographers? I've shot for many great clients in the past (UNICEF, Getty Images, Associated Press, etc.) in some really interesting locations and/or…
I am a Canadian currently living in working in the UK under an Ancestry visa. My Visa expires in October 2013, but due to travel plans I would like to renew it now as I'm not sure how long I will be away. Does anyone know if it is possible to renew it this early, or do I have to wait until closer to the date of expiry? Any advice would be very helpful! Thanks in advance!

I am a science teacher in London but I would really like to travel alone this summer but not comfortable with the idea of doing that with no focus, so i'd like to teach-preferably Europe as would be first time abroad alone. Don't want to do tefl as have to pay. Tips on where to look for jobs/how to go about? Also it-be nice to part of a group but not essential. Really want to do something that would challenge me and this definitely would!
i have a youth mobility visa for the uk in my old nz passport which is about to expire. the cost to transfer the visa to my new passport is £220!
the uk border agency webite states that you can keep you visa in your old passport and that you just have to show both your old and new passport to get back into the uk.
can anyone give me any advice, like has anyone had trouble using their visa in an old passport? what would you recommend? i'd like to save myself the money, but don't want to have any…
Hi all.
Had another silly idea. Considering moving to HK/Shanghai at the mo to either do a 12-month teaching job or a recruitment job.
However, I still have the travel bug enormously. Unfortunately I want to be a little more free-spirited than I probably am, but having done the 9-5 desk job, it blew. I just want to travel and have as great an experience as possible - we only live once!! (Heard that somewhere before...)
I realise i'm probably being unrealistic, irrational, pathetic and…
Hey all,
So my passion is travel, which has served me well in my career fields first in the military, then as an international educator, and finally (and now) as a humanitarian. While I think lots of ESL teachers and NGO workers can put a good portion of their salary aside (I know I can), as we often live/work in relatively poor areas and have many of our expenses (house) paid for, most of us also don't make enough to retire with a huge chunk of cash and/or have pension programs available…
I've been offered a great opportunity in my field with a good company on the island of St. Martin / Sint Maarten.
I haven't decided which side I'm going to live on, but right now I'm all of a sudden faced with a bunch of other choices, such as whether to take my stuff down there, or keep it here in the U.S. and rent a furnished place (about another $100-150/month). And then there's my car. It seems to be about $2000 to import a car and I'm tossing around the idea of just stuffing as many…
Hi,
I'm planning on applying for a UK tier 5 youth mobility visa soon, but was wondering about the "valid from" dates and how it works.
I am planning on traveling around Europe for 2 months before settling in England, however I'm going to London first.
Can I date my visa so it's not vaild until I have finished my trip round Europe saving the precious 2 months and enter England the first time as a tourist and not activate my visa; only activating the 2nd time when I go there properly? Or do…
