Hey, I'm an American traveling through Spain right now on the standard 3 month EU "Visa on Arrival". I'm now hoping to stick around for a whole year. Can anybody offer advice as to how I should go about arranging a Long Stay Tourist Visa from Spain? Everything I've read says you have to go through the application process in your home country before you leave. I really don't want to fly back to LA for a month just to get permission go come back here.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

I am looking for some advice and to hear peoples experiences regarding volunteer teaching -

what did you find the most difficult aspect of it?
what resources did you find most helpful?
what resources/equipment should I bring with me?

I will be in a fairly remote village without much facilities - starting to get a little worried and would like some advice on how best to prepare for this kind of adventure

Thanks for all your help
Clo

I am thinking about moving to Japan in December with my partner and can't seem to figure out where to go. We are both english teachers and he is a snow boarding addict. I would like some sort of nightlife and a place I could meet friends.

Is Nagano the best option do you think???

Any info would be great.

Thanks,

Linda

I believe I found an answer to my question about how to check one's bank accounts, use passwords, etc., safely when using someone else's computer, as in an internet cafe -- there is an external drive called the Seagate FreeAgent. The following is from Amazon.com -- and no, I'm not a sales person for this company -- just a traveler looking for a secure computer without carrying a laptop with me. It costs about $122 on Amazon and less on ebay. If someone on this list has experience with this…

Hello -- I'll be in Vietnam, and traveling in other SE Asian countries for about 5 months. I would like to purchase a cell phone while there. I'd appreciate some information about how to do this, which cell phones and cell phone companies are reliable. If you can, please explain the importance of "locked" and "unlocked" phones. Thank you.

Hi,

I am considering getting a UK Working Holidaymaker's visa in 2008 or 09 and working in Edinburgh, Scotland. I am Canadian and have a work background in event planning, marketing, sales and administration. I am curious though how difficult it is to get temp or permanent jobs in event planning for example in Scotland compared to say, London as my first thought is that their is probably more demand for event planners (conferences, trade shows, etc.) in London then Edinburgh. Can I please have…

You had the following requirements:

Any time zone between -4GMT and +6GMT.
Studio/1BR Rental properties available for at/under USD1000 a month.
High speed internet available for at/under USD100 a month.
Not Europe.

And the following preferences (roughly in order):
Safe for pets (a house cat).
Great beaches / as close to year-round swimming as possible.
Food, food, food.

Only a minor troll as I will probably do this.
Sitting here in Spain border and wanting to live somewhere 1) nicer and 2) not more…

i'll be staying in norway a few months and i would like to know what job possibilities there are for seasonal work or just something that

doesnt require knowledge of the norwegian language.

Is fruit picking/agricultural work a possibility ?

What about "working guest programs" ?

is selling art works (drawings, artifacts etc) on the street allowed ? how about a performance ?

has anyone (eu member) done anything similar for a few months. If so please share your experiences !!

Does anynody know if it's cheaper to send a suitcase full of clothes etc home via the airlines. I know it could be done pre 9/11 but am not sure now. I've called shipping companies and the cheapest price for a suitcase is £118 door to door through anglo pacific, to New Zealand.

I don't mind if it just goes to a warehouse or airport on the other end and I get a pick up arranged.

Thanks
