It looks like my husband will be working in Puerto Rico for a few months later on this year. If he goes, then myself and our baby will be going too.
I just have a few questions on life there if you would be so kind as to indulge me!
1. My Spanish is very very pathetically poor. I can count to ten, say hello and goodbye and thank you and thats about it! We did some backpacking around Central America in 2004 and my Spanish then was ok - nothing flash but as I…
Today I read an article about Hong Kong. The provocative title of that article says it all:
The humbling of the white man in Hong Kong
This is so different from what I experienced 9 years ago. Hong Kong was an expat heaven. What happened?
Here is an excerpt of that article by Kent Ewing:
HONG KONG - With the 10th anniversary of this city's handover to Chinese rule finally - and mercifully - about to pass, there has been no shortage of analyses over the past several months of whether July 1…
I am moving to Singapore from the California this year. My company will give me an allowance for all my living expenses (housing, food, car, and travel). Does anyone know if the allowances are subject to taxation back in the United States?
Thanks advance.
I'd like to see some opinions about the driving psychological forces behind long-term travel as a life ideal. I myself have started down that path, and was wondering if others who have experienced or attempted it have any advice. I'm a 22 year old American and have forked over 120,000 USD ( around 270,000 after interest) for a 3-year law school education I'll begin in the fall, in the hopes it will open up my possibilities for international travel/work or high-paying work that is primarily…
Hi,
I'm in Canada looking to work pretty much anywhere in the urban planning field or something similar. I have an MA and entry level municipal experience. I'd work for the Government, NGO's, private sector--I don't really care.
Anyone else worked abroad in this type of field?
Thanks!
Hiya everyone!
I'm an exchange student going to Arad, Romania for a year. I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips or anything of that sort. It's my first time living abroad without my parents, and I'm slightly overwhemled... :)
Thanks Very Much!

Im going to try and get my 30 day certification in the next 6 months, I have heard they can be pretty intense. Is it common for people to fail these courses? Maybe its unheard of, I really wouldn't know. Im just curious really as to how common it is, it would give me an idea of the difficulty of the course.
I want to get certified to teach English as a foreign language but I just can't afford to take time off work to do so.
I'm not really interested in doing one of the weekend courses as I have heard that employers tend to look down on these type of courses
After much searching I have found a distance learning 150 hour level 2 TESOL course through globalenglish.com for £295
Has anyone heard of them? Any feedback?
I want to learn as much as I can as I see this as a chance for a new career, and I want…
I'm going to europe in about 2 weeks. so far the insurance providers that looked hopeful to me were MultiNational Underwriters and World Nomads. they cover the material goods as well as health. has anyone used these? anyone know of something better? thanks folks!
Hi,
This is my first post! Hello everyone...
I am from the UK and am going to be travelling from September, indefinitely. I want to find either an ethical company overseas that I could find paid employment with, or an ethical organisation that I could volunteer with and have my accommodation etc provided. I don't really mind what country as I haven't travelled much before and am just keen to get out of here, but also I want to give something back to whatever communities I visit rather than just…
