Hi guys,

Just got approved on a working holiday visa in the Netherlands. Just struggling to find out how much the MVV fees are.
Also interested in which cities are good to live in for a young solo traveler like myself.

Any advice would be great

Well here is some advice Jay. Try explaining just what 'like myself' means. Otherwise, how do you expect anyone to suggest which cities you might like?

For accurate info about visa and fees, it's best to phone the Netherlands embassy or look at their webpage (info might be in Dutch though).

Utrecht and Den Haag (the Hague) are nice cities. So is Groningen in the north and Maastricht in the south. I' m born & raised in Amsterdam, but have mixed feelings about this city. The parties there are great, though!

What's your nationality? Citizens of most western countries don't need to apply for an MVV, have you confirmed that you need one?

I spent most of my student days in Leiden and strongly recommend it; it's a beautiful town with a sizeable student population and is well-connected to the rest of the country.

Groningen is a vibrant town too, but not very central as Dutch towns go. Maastricht is also 2-3 hours from the well-known towns in the Randstad area, but it's one of the nicest towns in the country and close to both Belgium and Germany.

Hi guys

thanks for your help. I am Australian and just found out my fee is only 40 euro as It is under a specific under 30 working holiday agreement. As for towns and cities you have been a great help. My father knows a dutch man who runs an employment agency so I shouldnt have any problems finding work over the Netherlands. Just looking for somewhere affordable to live with some form of nightlife. I find Amsterdam great but the tourists it attracts not so good.
