Greetings:

I am Canadian and I live and work in Saudi Arabia. My wife would like me to get some life insurance. Basically, I want to buy the cheapest life insurance (i.e., lowest yearly/monthly premium) with the best pay out I can get. I would like to buy it from a very reputable company (Canadian or international) that will actually pay out if I die before my wife. I am 54, a non-smoker, a non-drinker, male and in relative good health. Any information is greatly appreciated.

I had a similar issue about 10-12 years ago and I was living in Saudi Arabia at the time.

Most - if not all - life insurance policies require that you be living and legally resident in the country from which you are applying.

I ended up without insurance, so I don't know the answer to your problem - except to see, perhaps, what is on offer in Saudi - but then when you are living in a different country - that insurance may no longer provide protection.

I might suggest that you do as I did - structure your finances/investments so that your spouse is easily taken care of in the event of your untimely passing.

It would be nice if there was a better answer, but I don't have one.
