DOD does have special Ed programs at some of its overseas schools but mostly for learning disabilities as the exceptional family member program tends to keep folks who require multiple services in the US. That said there are some schools which do specialize in autism which are overseas but they generally aren't inclusion programs. There are two schools in South America - the Ann Sullivan schools in Peru and Brazil, the village School in Bangkok, Pathlight and Rainbow in Singapore. There are some programs in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and maybe Manama that work with autism spectrum disorders. Australian Schools in various parts of the world tend to be inclusive. I know there is one in Jakarta.

Try the Office of Overseas schools website of the US Department of State for a list of special needs schools. Try the groups like TIE but you will need to register and attend their job fairs.

jbsped003 - I would love to get more information from you. I will be completing my Master of Teaching degree in Canada, and I'm interested in moving to the UAE. My career path is special education, in particular, teaching children with autism spectrum disorder. I'd really appreciate it if you could send me a message, or your contact information. Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you soon!

How about teaching in a DoD home in Egypt? We have a daughter with special needs that DoD won't support. But my job may be keeping me overseas. I'm not sure where to look for a teacher or what salaries might be, but we are paying her expenses out-of-pocket anyways. It might be nice to hire an American with special needs experience - and possibly share some of our overseas adventures.

Investing in child's future is very much important but from your question its really difficult to figure out how much you would need to. It depends on various factors like http://www.essaythinker.com/ how old is your daughter currently, what career would she choose and which college will she opt for? There are many decision one needs to take to come to a conclusion.

Lawmitch - assuming you are DoD defense attach office you should consult with the department of state office of overseas schools for advice and specifically with the Regional Psychatrists about schools. There is one at the embassy in Cairo.
