Hi!
So new to this. Finally decided to put my dreams ahead of me for once and go for it. I am Canadian, turning 23 and wanting to travel and then get a work visa overseas. I am skeptical as to where to go due to the economy. I would love to see thailand, vietnam, australia, new zealand etc. Was thinking of the UK but heard the economy keeps dropping.

I need advice as I have never travelled alone nor have any idea on what I am doing. Is it easy to get resort jobs? How much should I save? What is the safest place for me to go etc?

Any comments are welcome!

You may be able to get working holiday visas for Australia and NZ , see the releant branches for that . In Thailand often working at bungalows or resorts will just be jobs for food and accomodation. See also this Thailand Working Thread. . In Vietnam even less chances of work .
If possible work and save before going so you have enough money to travel and are not dependant on having to find jobs. As for safety and traveling alone there are many many threads about these isuues on the relevant branches , you may be able to find them with the search engine.

Traditionally travellers have made earned money in Thailand , Laos , Cambodia and Vietnam by formal or informal english teaching jobs,.

I realize you did not mention Turkey but Istanbul always has need for qualified, native-speaking, English teachers, especially if you have a Master's degree which can get you a nice university job with work permit, holidays, benefits, etc. There are around 40+ universities in Istanbul. You can also teach English at some of the high schools but that is more difficult and you must show proof of a teaching certificate from your home country AND the originals of your diplomas.

For non-traditional work with less pay, few or no benefits, fun and challenging but long hours from April through the end of October, visit the Mediterranean coast and especially Kas (Kosh) between Antalya and Fethiye. It is the "Adventure Capital of the Med" and you can usually work as an assistant tour guide if you are willing to work hard. These jobs are seasonal and usually include a place to stay with meals.
There are several companies which occasionally hire foreign assistant tour guides, these two are among the largest and with the longest tenure in Kas:
Bougainville Travel (http://www.bt-turkey.com/contact.php)
another is
Dragoman (http://en.dragoman-turkey.com/t/12/sub.jsp?p=14535)

Good Luck...

Ive done my OE to New Zealand and would totally recommend doing it! I went with a support program and i found it easy to find work and the support took a lot of the stress off of moving to the other side of the world.

NZ is safe.. people are super friendly and they seem to go out of there way to help you out. I didnt have a problem finding work. I went with a program called SWAP. www.swap.ca and the new zealand counterparts are called IEP http://www.iep.org.nz They took care of my bank account, tax number and had a inbound center i could use to find work and accommodation. There are a tonne of Canadians here, so you will have your fellow country men here to lean on ;-)

Just do it.. head oversease to work and travel. You wont regret it.
