Hi, does anyone know the best countries for short term tefl work this winter? I'm thinking 4-6 months.

I was looking into Thailand or S.America, but any suggestions are welcome. I'm English so I'm not sure if that makes a difference (I know some places prefer American accents).

Thanks

I think by enlarge just being native is enough. I understand that places like Korea like American accent but I think you'll find Brits, Aussies etc working everywhere and spreading their accents.

In China, many schools have contracts for 6 months. All you need is to be a native speaker. Some schools also require a degree. Check out www.eslcafe.com or www.tefl.com. Have fun!

If you have a degree you can get a 6 month contract in South Korea. Most contracts are for the standard 1 year, but summer camps (1-4 weeks) and 6 month contracts are available . . .

In China a degree is a requirement for a visa, but assuming you have the quals there are plenty of jobs. The better schools, colleges, unis etc require one year contracts but language schools are often so desperate they'll take shorter contracts. Try www.tefl.com

Westgate in Japan has 3-month contracts.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a tefl certificate and BA degree so that's not a problem, I only have limited teaching experience (7 months) from a few years ago. I'm actually considering just doing the whole year in Turkey now depending on whether I manage to get a work permit.
