Hello
I'm 24 yo Aussie, and I'm going to be applying for my WHV for UK next week.
My travel agent is telling me that I need to have a return flight booked in order to enter the UK. However I get the impression from reading the various information on the net about entering the UK on a WHV, you just need to be able to prove that you have enough money to buy a flight home.
I will have enough money to prove this with no problem, but my travel agent insists I need a return flight. But I'm wondering whether this is because it's more expensive for a return and he makes more money that way!
Any personal experiences?

Your travel agent is a fool, get a better travel agent - a WHV lasts 2 years and no airline ticket lasts more than 1 year. Even if it the WHV lasted a year you could still be travelling elsewhere at the end of that period either for tourism or more WHV
All you MAY have to do on arrival is to provide the same level of proof that you used to get the visa in the first place. Often they won't even ask for that

They never asked me for a return ticket when I arrived in London bec I had alot in my savings.
They didn't ask my ex-bf either and he didn't have that much money with him.
They are just trying to make you buy another ticket off them so they can get commission.

Thanks everyone. Just to be cautious, I bit the bullet and paid the hefty cost to ring the British High Commission in Canberra.
The official word?
No return flight needed when arriving on the WHV, just proof of funds that could buy a flight home. She explained this was for the same reasons outline by alanR.
