Hi,
I'm a 25yo female from Australia with a EU passport and no German. Just thought I'd let everyone know it is super easy to move to Munich and find work. I was lucky enough to have free accom for my first month here while I got sorted, but finding work is really easy -even with no german! I clean, babysit, petsit, work in a bar and was offered teaching english work and tourguide work. Take a look at www.toytowngermany.com -there is a huge expat community here so if you are reliable, talk to people, let everyone know what you are looking for and (I have found) people are so helpful here.

Ask yourself this sweety.

Imagine you only spoke German and rocked up in Brisbane. Would you expect to find work?

The type of low level work you want will be taken up by Eastern Europeans who probably speak German in many cases and will work for a lot less than you are prepared to.

Germans speak good English and finding work would be hard, particularly as a fly by night Aussie backpacker.

WORKING NOMAD: I'm not sure what your post is ment to be saying??? I did just rock up to Munich in March with no German, no intention of learning German and found more work then I could accept. I am only here for about 6 months for the experience of living in another country so none of my work is aimed at furthering my career, but it's ok for now. I have met other people, Aussies and Americains from different demographics who have also found work here easily. The aim of my post was just to let people know that for me in Munich it was easy to just arrive and find the means to survive and earn some to travel around on weekends as well.
