I've been told about a book that gives you tips on where you can stay (motorhome or tent) for free. For example farmers that let you stay on their property for free, or in return for a little work. Supposedly some even have facilities you can use.
Can anyone think what this book could be. I've scanned the internet and can't find anything.
Any suggestion about a book or website with similar info would be appreciated.
Cheers

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is exactly what you are after, but there are various organisations that come under the banner of WWOOF (World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms or Willing Workers on Organic Farms) where you get to stay on farms in exchange for work. In many cases you will receive food and board. There is a small joining fee and once you join you receive a list of farms who want volunteers with the contact details so you can arrange to visit. Many countries have their own WWOOF organisation and you will have to join them separately, but there is also a WWOOF Independents organisation. For more details check out their website here:
WWOOF Independents

The two major UK motorhome and caravan clubs should be able to give you answers missfernie. I know one of the two has a list of a group of member farms in France at least where you can park for the night and sample their wine or cheese in the morning. No obligation to buy but it's polite to buy a couple of bottles I believe. In France and Germany there are free motorhome sites provided by many towns. On the Highways in France you look for signs saying Aire and they are another place you can stop for free. Some have facilities including pump outs, water and electric and some are just a place to park.

Thanks for both of your suggestions. I didn't think about contacting the uk clubs. How stupid of me! I'll get onto it! Which one in particular has a list of member farms?
