I have booked a one way ticket aiming to go to S America for one year, then NZ for around a year then who knows!

I am thinking of booking insurance with insure and go as they do a reasonable policy however they only insure up to 18 months.

Does anyone know if I can get a good insurance covering baggage etc in addition to medical etc while I am away travelling? Can I book a UK policy while, say in Australia??

Would love any advise on this..

You need to book your insurance from your country of residence. My advice would be to purchase another policy from your current provider while you are travelling, or alternatively contact someone at home and ask them to arrange it for you. If you were going to be in a specific country for longer than, say 3 months, then you could possibly buy insurance whilst in that country, but if you were seriously injuried (or, god forbid, died) your family would still be stuck with the bill for getting you back to the UK. By purchasing a policy in the UK that eventuality is covered. Ask Insure if you can renew your policy or buy a new policy whilst on the road. If they want your business they will accommodate you.

WorldNomads are the standard by which travel insurance is generally measured. They will renew while on the road. I don't think they have a maximum time limit. I know they will certainly renew for a second year.

i've used world nomads in the past, never made a claim with them but they're easy to deal with as far as getting insurance.

I use workd nomads all the time - easy to use and cheap although never had to make a claim with them.
