I am hoping to get my Canadian work permit (IEC) this year and I got in touch with a company called Cityvisa.com just wondering if anyone has gone through them before? They want an admin fee paid of £250 and they say they hold a visa for you and do all the paper work for you as long as you send all the correct documents in.

Is this too good to be true??

What's good about paying a large sum of money for something you can do yourself for free?

Well the first red flag is 'they hold a visa for you'. NO ONE but the Canadian government can issue a visa and they are not about to issue them to a company like football tickets. So that's rubbish.

Next is 'as long as you send all the correct documents in'. That's all you have to send to the Canadian government so why send them to a middle man to pass on?

It's not too good to be true, there is nothing good about it. Do it yourself it isn't that hard. Start here:

Yes, I know people who did it and it didn't seem that hard. Getting the right documents is a pain, as always, but that cityvisa.com company can't do it for you anyway.

So basically it is £250 to hold your hand.

The real key leaving_edinburgh is in this sentence, "do all the paper work for you as long as you send all the correct documents in."

Let's say you need to provide a police report showing you have no criminal record. The third party does not ask the police for that report, you have to. They don't get a copy of your birth certificate, you have to do that, etc., etc.

All the paperwork they are going to do is fill in the VISA APPLICATION FORM. Even then, YOU have to sign it. LOL they do about 1% of the total work involved.

I have no experience with this company but I know as a Canadian citizen I would see many TV commercials issued by the Government warning people about company's offering to get them Visa's and not having the rights to do so

So just be careful.
