Hello there,

I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to which European countries were the best destinations for would be english teachers? Many seem to say that the Czech Republic (Prague specifically) is a great destination but mostly due to the fact that it is easier to get a visa or some such thing and I have an EU passport. Baisically I would like to get some feedback from people who have experience working as english teachers in Europe!

I have a friend who taught in Prague for Berlitz and said the pay was miserable. She's now teaching privately in Germany and is much happier. Apparently the word is out for Prague and there are a lot of people looking to teach there, so the job market is pretty competitive.

Stay away from the English language is what I'd say. You seem to be missing the fact that a language begins with a capital letter.

In search of a more intelligent planet for my next life. If you have a recommendation, let me know.

You might want to look at eslcafe.com for comments on living and working (ESL) in various countries.

It's your first post so I will cut you some slack.

Define 'best' Ni. Otherwise it is a meaningless term.

You say you have a passport from an EU country (no such thing as an EU passport) so legally you can live and work in any EU country. However, you say nothing about what qualifications you have to teach English. That can make a big difference as to where you can teach and what kind of schools you can teach in.

For example, the best teaching jobs by far in terms of conditions and pay are in International schools. However they aren't about to hire you just because you speak English and have an online TEFL certificate. So the more relevant info you provide the more relevant responses can be.
