Hi

In regards to the points system, can someone pls clarify what the 'pooling' means... We can get 110 points...

How does the 'pool' work and whats the chance of us being accepted? Has anyone been through this?...

The Immi.gov.au website says...

..."The points test pass mark for this visa is 120 points.
If you score less than 120 points but more than 100 points your application will be placed in reserve (the 'pool') and will remain in the pool for two (2) years after assessment. If the pass mark is lowered at any time during the two (2) year period, and your score is equal to or higher than the new pass mark, your application will then be processed further.

If you score less than 100 points, your application will be refused. "...

Thanks

Whilst waiting in the 'pool', How likely is it that the preferred occupation will be taken off the list?

What happens if you havent heard back within 2 years?

Can you re apply?

The points will be lower then as i am 28 at the mo so will lose 5 points when i turn 30...

thanks again!

Realistically you might as well buy a lottery ticket. The chances of you getting in are slim and none.

It depends on what you can offer in terms of qualifications and experience. I used to work with a guy in the UK who was an engineer and he got in no problems, but if you are an office clerk or a profession in plentiful supply over here in Australia, then like #2 says you have between buckleys and no chance of getting in. You may be better off trying to get an Aussie company to sponsor you, or perhaps working for a company that has offices in Australia and trying for a transfer. Whichever way you go it will take time. If you are only 28 why not try the Working Holidaymaker visa? That way, at least you can try working in Australia to see if you like it. It never ceases to amaze me how many Brits sell up everything to move to Australia only to find that they don't like it and return to the UK within a year ....
