Can someone please help clarify the rules around an Australian work holiday visa for US Citizens. It is clear that you are eligible for a visa if you are between the ages of 18-30. Does this mean that if you are 30 that you are too old for a Visa or can I still apply for one as a 30 year old? I will be turning 30 in 2 months. If I apply now can I leave to start work there in 10 months and still have a valid visa for the following 12 months? I would appreciate any clarification I can get around this.

Means from the day you turn 18 then up to as close to 31 as you can get. You then have 12 months in which to enter Australia.

That's helpful. Thank you.

What sort of work will you be doing there? I've heard that even agricultural jobs are hard to find these days due to the influx of WHVers from the UK.

Dont worry about finding a job. You'll be fine. Easy as pie.

And don't bother going to Ag work. It sucks and there's no point as us merkins can't extend our visa anyway.... but Im sure you'll learn that in the Aus thread anyway.
