I think tony is trying to say that it is perfectly okay to put this here. It's the best place for it.

For one of my favorite quotes, see my sigline.

From the Screwtape Letters. A devil explains that one of the surest ways to hell is to more or less fritter away your life doing nothing and wind up saying as one person did on arrival in hell:

"I now see that I spent most of my life in doing neither what I ought nor what I liked."

Agreed, sashac :)

When I was a student, my bank manager hauled me in to discuss an unauthorised overdraft. He pointed out that I was using other people's money and had no authorisation to do so. I pointed out that, given the exorbitant charges applied, I was hardly in moral crisis. I added: "I intend tae..." - at which point he interjected: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions!"

Needless to say, he won that particular exchange.

"It's not like life is one long Golden Summer which I am too self-absorbed to appreciate (although it may be, and I am simply too self-absorbed to notice) but that happy moments are possible, and where happy moments are possible I have no right to complain about anything."
Nick Hornby

"life is the light between darkness and darkness"

Both these quotes are credited to "Anon":

To play chess well is the hallmark of a gentleman. To play chess extremely well is the hallmark of a wasted life.

We may be God's favourite mistake. I think God watches us the way we watch cartoons.

I have more than a nodding acquaintance with Mr Hornby, sheepgirl.

Tell me: do you like Not Not While the Giro by Kelman?

r1j2s3t4: I'll offer a wee bit of advice, in three parts:

Part 1: next time ask a 'clever' closed question: 'important' posters hereon (they of self import) are not going to dilute their status (such as it is) by answering your question. You need to give them the opportunity to excel: Do you agree that 'Is this a dagger I see before me?' is the most important line? (Obviously, it isn't - but you will draw them...)

Part 2: do not seem stupid - I know you are not but, in the eyes of some, your question is not quite an intelligent one.

Part 3: never ask a question on this branch which equates to: 'what is your favourite fruit?'

P.S. trax is a genius - hence, she does not feel insecure about replying.
