Because until recently hip-hop has been sadly lacking here.
Not in Snoop's class, of course. We can't all be Snoop.

Hilarious. Nice to see all those tax dollars going into the fine production values.

We had 4º C and the temp rose to 16º that's four times the warmth. How many other places are there where the temp. reaches four times the minimum?
Captain, that's easy when the minimum is pretty low. Imagine the rate when you have a 1º C Min. and a 8º C High.
On the other hand, it's nice to see that there's someone else sharing winter right now to make a difference from all the Northhemispherians we have in this thread. Go South!!!!
I believe it's about time to start talking about the Olympics here.
My country's hopes are placed mostly on team sports: Football/Soccer (male), Basketball (male), Field Hockey (female). We also have certain hopes for a medal in tennis (male).
If we get a medal in any other discipline, it will be a big surprise.
Bad luck there's no Polo at the Olympics...
Captain, are they going to include Rugby in the games anytime soon?

Well, they are dropping baseball...
The news here is primarily focussing n things like the air pollution and the lack of internet access for reporters. How do Downunders feel about celebrating the "summer" games right now?
According to the US National Climatic Data Center:
>The greatest temperature change in 24 hours occurred in Loma, MT. on January 15, 1972. The temperature rose exactly 103 degrees (not quite 40C), from -54 degrees Fahrenheit/-48C to 49/9.4C degrees. This is the world record for a 24—hour temperature change.

I don't see why baseball was ever considered Olympics-worthy. So few countries play it, even though there is a "world series".
The French always have lots of hopes for the Olympics, but never do all that well. They are mostly better at individual sports, like judo or horseback riding. A few runners too. It's interesting that some countries are better at team sports, others at individual ones. Do you suppose it's an expression of national character?
Loscar, my son has a shirt marked "Bariloche snow polo"!
Snow Polo is a marketing thing organized by the Bariloche ski resort to give tourists some fun in winter other than skiing and snowboarding. It's quite spectacular and a lot of fun but of course it's not an Olympic sport.
I've never really thought of it as the "summer" games. These are the Games... the others are the Winter Olympic games.
Whenever we are having the Olympics here in Buenos Aires, please tell your athletes not to forget to bring warm clothes.
We can say that Argentina is good at team sports, but that can't be a reflection of our average character. We are well known individualists and, even though we worship family and friendship and we are most of the time open and friendly to strangers, most Argentines tend to seek always their own benefit and care very few about the rest of society.
Perhaps regarding sports, the rule is the opposite as to that for sociey in general.
