I'm sure they can find people willing to pay it. People are crazy.

Belated happy Friends' Day, Loscar!

It's too bad we don't have Belgians here to keep us updated about what is going on there.

Thank you all.

Friend's day is rather new, so there're no old traditions related to it. Cell phone system collapsing is the main one and people going out for some beers on working days. This year it was on a Sunday so an "asado" was the most obvious option or a party on Saturday night.
The date for Friend's day was chosen because it was the day of the first landing on the moon surface. Don't ask me what's the relationship between that and friendship but that's how it was.

I heard on the radio about hamburgers. They were making a big deal of it but actually it was just a survey made by some consumer's asociation, on fat content and other quality issues in different hamburger brands present in Argentine supermarkets.

It's weird how some very simple things get to the news.

That's a really good reason. I like it.

(All that talk of hamburgers has me craving hamburgers right now. Off to the kitchen for other food, I guess.)

This is the hamburger story I was thinking of. It was in the Washington Post, not the New York Times.

"The average Argentine in 2006 consumed more than 140 pounds of beef"

Wow.

That was my reaction too. You don't have to be a vegetarian to say wow to that.

Sure it's a lot, but Argentine beef is really good and tender, the portions are big. And they don't seem to eat much fish.

I know, that was just an objective "wow". Are there any Hindus in Argentina, by the way?

I just found a video of the burgers in Paris on the NY times site, but I wasn't allowed to post it -- too many characters.
