Thought you guys might enjoy this one. The choices are randomly generated, so you might have one round where you have German and Japanese, and another where you have Slovak, Slovenian, and Macedonian.

Perfect game for SiT folk

Fun. Best score I've managed so far is 900.

I got 1100 but you can't compare scores since no two games are ever the same.

I only went through a first (which I survived), but I was actually more interested in observing my thought processes. I pretty much had to go by general sound, as I mostly got languages I know little about.

Some of the ones I got right:
Doesn't sound tonal. Can't be Mandarin.
Full of gutturals. Must be Hebrew.
I recognize a couple of words--Dutch!
Vaguely reminds me of Turkish. Must be Finnish.
I've heard enough spoken Vietnamese that it just doesn't sound right. Must be Lao.

Naturally I got tripped up when the choices were Danish, Norwegian, and Swahili. Obviously a Scandinavian language, but that was my only clue, since I know nothing about any of them. Flipped a coin & got it wrong.

Also got it wrong when the choices were Hindi and two languages I'd never heard of. It was Hindi.

Thanks for posting. I managed to get 900, got it wrong for Norwegian, Sinhalese and Burmese. I guess they prefer not to say Myamarese.

There really is a very large element of luck. Sometimes when I've played, languages that I know very well have repeated themselves two or even three times.

However, I just played a game in which in the "two languages" round I was asked to distinguish between Serbian and Croatian. I'm not sure even a Serb or Croat could do that reliably based on a very short clip (though I happened to guess right).

It gets worse as I play: got it wrong for Bulgarian, Czech and Armenian. Only scoring 350, shame to say....
