palindroma, since my Mexican family is (mostly) of the northern Sinaloa still anticlerical variety, I guess they just don't use that "religious" or blasphemous swearing, since it wouldn't seem strong enough for them. LOL One of my cuñados can tell "questionable", i.e., dirty jokes for hours without repetition, yet I have never heard a "religious" swear word from him.

Hi mazgringo, that kind of profane religious swearing is not used in Mexico at all; it's a Spanish thing. I think that if you said something like that anywhere in Mexico, people would be frankly horrified, even non-religious types.
