Would you pronounce the 'd' in sandwich?

Would you pronounce the second of the three 'n's in environment?

Thanks

Jeremy

Depends how carefully I'm speaking. I often omit them but not deliberately.

The sandwich lady just came past and shouted "Sammidges!"

Ditto. Just pronouncing the words aloud now, I said both letters, but am probably more sloppy in normal speech. No, correction -- I would always say the n in environment.

For "environment," I pronounce all the ns,+ but I don't say en-vi-ron-ment. I say en-vi-ern-ment. The "vi-ern" is like +iron,+ not +ironic.

Sandwich - not 100% of the time.

Environment - always.

sandwich - 100% of the time, environment - 100% of the time, although in informal speech I probably use the pronunciation that nutrax, #3, noted most of the time.

My English dialect is western - southwestern U.S., but with significant public speaking training and experience, so my enunciation is somewhat better than most of the folks I grew up with.

I seem to almost ADD another D in sandwich. It sounds like sand-widge (a bit like wedge) rather than witch.

With a Midwestern accent, I drop the d in sandwich so it's "san-witch." If I'm speaking fast, the final "ch" can almost sound like "dge" but not quite.

For environment, the same as nutraxfornerves, clipping the o into a short "ih" sound.

I almost always pronounce the d in sandwich but never the second n. Somehow pronouncing that second n would sound fussy to me.
