Hi!

I'm looking forward to imporve my language skills. Therefore I need a good phrasebook for my Windows-Netbook. Does anybody have some good advise which dictonary to use? I need Lao, Malay and other south-east-asian languages.
Of course the lonely planet phrasebooks are a good offline opportunity :-) But my luggage is already to heavy.

Babylon has 75 free, downloadable dictionaries, and includes translation software
www.babylon.com

These may be useful to you:
Indonesian English dictionary and English Indonesian dictionary ...Download free dictionary (for Windows)
www.freelang.net/dictionary/indonesian.php

Free Downloadable English-Indonesian Dictionary · Download the Novell Glossaries (Novell Glossaries for: Style Guides, Netware, GroupWise, IntraNetware, ...
www.translatum.gr/dictionaries/download-dictionary.htm

there are many more online.

For Vietnamese, have a look at
http://www.freelang.net/dictionary/vietnamese.php
http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/downloads/english_vietnamese_dictionary_software/

Mind you, neither of these two Vietnamese dictionaries will include all the 42,000 plus new words recorded from newspapers printed from 1986 to date.

I am currently using print dictionaries Từ Điển Việt-Anh and Từ Điển Anh-Việt (Nhà Xuất Bản Văn Hoá Thông Tin) (2 vols) [Vietnamese - English, English -Vietnamese] claiming 250,000 and 300,000 headwords respectively, and yet daily I find new words in Vietnamese newspapers which are not listed in these dictionaries.
