There's a Mardzhani Mosque in Kazan, Tatarstan, named for Shikhabuddin Mardzhani.

He seems to have been a Tatar. I don't know about the name. I wonder if it's related to Marjane Satrapi's given name (probably making it Persian).

Marjan (short a first syllable, long a second syllable) is Arabic and Persian for coral. I suppose the family might have come from some place called Marjan.
