i get that "mam jalal" refers to jalal talabani. what is "mam"? a sort of title? a part of his first name?

It's not the Arabic for uncle. That's 3amm (3=ayin, short a) father's brother and khAl (long a), mother's brother.

Oh, a google website is wrong once again - what a shocker! It is an honorific though, right?

I'm not saying it doesn't mean uncle, sashac, just that it doesn't mean uncle in Arabic. It could be Kurdish or Persian.
