Learning Farsi or Dari in Iran, Tajikistan or Afghanistan

Greetings:

I am considering taking an intensive beginners Farsi or Dari course(s) this summer. If I decide to do this, I would like to take intensive courses in a country where the language is spoken. I have checked this message board for other posts relating to this topic but it seems that the most recent ones are from 2008.

Could anyone recommend a language school or program that I can look into?

Also, I am a U.S. citizen and don't know how this might affect my application for an Iranian visa should I decide to take a course in Iran. Has anyone had recent experience with acquiring an Iranian visa for up to as many as 3-4 months?
