Hey Guys and Gals,
I would like to be able to teach English while I travel for extra income. I have found a school in Prague that offers a 4 week course to teach you in class direction and gives a certificate. The advantage is, they have a worldwide network and a job placement assistance program geared for the traveler.

My questions are these; Are you familiar with this school? Do I have other options? Must I be certified? Is there any kind of school like this in NY?
Thanks,
Fulano

"A school in Prague"
Sure! Isn't that the one with the door in front and the roof on top?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. You might want to add the name of the school to get better responses. Especially since you say they have a worldwide network, people here may know the organization but won't recognize it as "a school in Prague".

you can try to post your question at the czech expat's forum - lots of english teachers there, who might be able to answer it...

if you're in new york (i assume that's what NY stands for in your post), you'll be able to find lots of programs in education.

what's your goal? teaching or traveling? if teaching, go for a better program. if you just want to travel, you might think twice about this plan. if you want to live/teach in place for a year or at least 1/2 year and then move on, fine. if you want to teach someplace for a month and then move on, you need to think about what you can offer. sorry if i'm judging too harshly, but too many people think of teaching as just an odd job, and then students find themselves paying for a class with a teacher who is just there to make travel money, and will be replaced in a few weeks.

Hey Tomaj,
Thank you for your frankness. It's why I post questions on this site.

I also have been doing some research and I agree with you. It isn't a part time job or one that would allow you to do local travel as I assumed. I know that I am more interested in the traveling and this would probably limit possibilities because of the rigid schedule. While I was traveling through Thailand, I met a couple who had been traveling for 8 months. He was American she was British. They were each able to get jobs in an American hotel on Phuket. I may be interested in something like that, I'm not sure. I am looking at all possibilities. A temporary situation would probably be better as it could change from trip to trip.

Thanks,
FulanRock
