antipatico, from spanish to english. I can't find a word or a phrase that seems fitting. Any ideas? "Unfriendly" looks like the best candidate so far, but it doesn't really mean the same.

Could be, but i'm not sure. How would you translate simpatico? Pleasant? Friendly? It's none of the two really.

simpatico o antipatico en ingles no es lo mismo que en castellano, supongo yo que no hay un sinomimo perfecto para expresar lo mismo que queremos expresar nosotros aca

I'm not THAT lazy. If i can solve the question using a dictionary i wouldn't be bothering you lout. I'm just not really convinced with the accuracy of the answer i got, and that's why i posted. Thanks anyway.

You're right, but there are some words that don't translate well; pleasant or friendly would probably be the most common ways to describe a person who is simpatico.

The precise definition of antipatico would be antipathetic+, but that word means having a strong aversion to something or to find it repugnant. I don't know if I have ever seen the word used. I think it's more likely that we would say +disagreeable+ or +unpleasant.

If the person is a male, we might also just call him a jerk.

I would say "disagreeable".

simpatico is used in US English, suggesting that there isn't a good one-word translation.

OP, can you give us the context of what you're trying to say? There is almost never a word in one language whose range of meanings corresponds exactly to the range of meanings of a word in another language. But there may be a word that gets close to the particular meaning in a given context.

It's just out of curiosity. I can come up with a way to describe what i want, but i was just wondering if there is an appropiate translation i wasn't aware of. That's all.

Just to make it clear, i am aware that some words are not "translatable", at least not in a literal sense. Still, the fact that i couldn't think of a word to translate it to, doesn't mean there isn't one, reason for which i asked.

Thanks to all btw.
