It appears that the official name of what used to be called the Kentucky Derby is now "The $2,000,000 Kentucky Derby (GI) presented by Yum! Brands."

What is GI? Presumably it's not gastrointestinal, Yum! Brands' involvement notwithstanding, nor Government Issue.

It's not GI, but G1. The Derby is a Grade 1 stakes race. That's the trouble with Roman numerals.

O tempora o mores!

Perhaps instead of blanket of roses, the winning horse should have a taco named after him.

Thanks, NA.

Zashibis, it would be confusng to name a taco after this year's winner, I'll Have Another.

Au contraire!

The synergy between the name of the horse and fast food marketing is such, you'd imagine the fix was in.
